We aim to run three contests per year. Entries are welcome from bands from outside of the Association; further details are available from the Contest Secretary. We endeavour at all times to appoint experienced, well-known and highly respected adjudicators at our contests.
Winter ContestThis is an own-choice March and own-choice Test Piece competition. It usually takes place early in the year - usually late February or early March. This is particularly suitable for bands wishing to "run out" the test piece set for the Area Qualifier contests later in the month. Although we have not run this competition for a few years, we are hopeful that we may be able to restart it in 2011.
Brass FestivalThis is our popular Solos, Duets and Quartet contest. There are approximately 20 sections, even including a section for percussionists and for adult learners, in addition to all of those sections aimed at more experienced adults and junior players. This contest takes place in Spring each year, and was last held on 25th April 2010.
Entertainment ContestThis is a contest where bands are invited to enter a concert programme of around 20-25 minutes in length. Bands are marked on entertainment value and presentation skills, as well as musical ability. This contest usually takes place in the Autumn, and will next be held in September 2010.
